British Bribery Act 2010 Compliance Course

You might or might not be aware but the British Bribery Act 2010 came into force on July 1st 2011 and it is a significant change to UK laws in the area of commerce and business both Nationally and Internationally. Under this new Act, a company will be automatically liable if a person acting on its behalf uses a bribe anywhere in the world. To prevent any potential for this to happen, your company must be able to show that it has suitable and adequate procedures in place at the time of any alleged offence.

It is important to note that the level of fines and other financial penalties has been rising and that individuals could face a maximum 10 year prison sentence and/ or an unlimited fine. It is therefore important that your company should assess any risk areas in your business, and if deemed high then you should have procedures in place to demonstrate to a court or regulator that you have an established and comprehensive anti-bribery programme.

LM2EX offers a course that will help you understand what the Act means to you and how to develop procedures internally and externally (in accordance with guidance given by the UK Government) that would minimise the risk of prosecution by the UK authorities such as the SFO (Serious Fraud Office and FSA (Financial Services Authority).
